GHS Concert Bands

WIND SYMPHONY

The GHS Wind Symphony consists of 50–55 of the finest instrumentalists at Germantown High School. Membership into this organization is through appointment by the GHS band staff in the spring of the previous year and is based on each student’s lesson preparation, musical aptitude, class involvement, leadership, and behavior within the class setting.

SYMPHONIC BAND

The GHS Symphonic Band consists of students in grades 10–12 and performs medium to advanced high school music. Placement is based on each student’s lesson preparation, musical aptitude, and class involvement during the previous school year.

CONCERT WINDS

The Concert Winds consist of all freshmen band students. During the year students build their technique and musicianship. The curricular focus of the freshmen lessons is the ability to play music in all 12 major keys and in complex rhythms and increase their range in all directions.

PEP BAND

The GHS Pep Band plays for four boys and four girls basketball games. Averaging over 110 members, the Pep Band has a lengthy song playlist. In January, everyone has the chance to join the “World’s Largest Pep Band.” Stay for the 5th quarter and join us in a polka!

JAZZ ENSEMBLE

Jazz Ensemble meets during the second semester. It performs at the spring band concert in addition to outreach performances at Kennedy Middle School and Amy Belle Elementary.
